Onkabetse Modisakeng is a Civil Engineering graduate and MSc candidate in Water Quality Engineering at the University of Cape Town. She is passionate about sustainable urban water management, shaped by her experience working with the drought-impacted City of Cape Town. Her research explores advanced purification of wastewater for drinking, focusing on potable water reuse as a strategy for building climate-resilient cities. She is also interested in optimizing resource recovery from wastewater and bridging the gap between academic research and practical implementation. Onkabetse aims to contribute meaningfully to the field of water reclamation and reuse, with a vision to support the development of resilient, sustainable water systems across Africa.
