This was the first ever conference to be held outside Johannesburg and Cape Town. The conference was organised in partnership with Umgeni young water professionals (UYWP) and it had a strong presence of participants from other African countries. The conference theme encouraged responsibility, accountability and inclusivity amongst young people in managing our water use and water resources for sustainable economic development. It also echoed the entrepreneurship side where young people could be involved in solving the water crisis through innovation. The conference hosted young innovators in a workshop that was coordinated by Imvelisi.
