Lee-Ann Sade Modley

Dr. Lee-Ann Sade Modley is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of Department at the University of Johannesburg in the Department of Geography, Environmental management and Energy studies in the Faculty of Science. A Zoologist by training, Lee-Ann has an undergraduate degree in Zoology and Human Physiology and an Honours in General Zoology. Her Masters and PhD was in Environmental management with a focus on Aquatic health and Ecology. She is passionate about transforming townships by working with communities to sustainably develop community-based ecological restoration plans and works actively in Eldorado Park and Tembisa to achieve these goals. She is also the Local coordinator for South Africa of the international Erasmus Mundus Masters degree in Sustainable and Territorial Development in collaboration with 4 international Universities. She is also a Scientific Advisory Board member for RIMM Sustainability Company in Singapore. She has been with the YWP-ZA chapter since 2017 and started off as the Imvelisi Lead (2017-2019), she is currently the International Portfolio Lead for Young Water Professionals, South Africa and the Career Building Lead for the International Water Association Young Water Professionals. Dr Modley is also a program director of the I AM Teen Girls Career development program in collaboration with a Non profit organization in Eldorado Park. She is also a doting Wife and proud Mother of 2 boys aged 1 and 4 years old.
