Activity Lead

Nombuso is a dedicated and accomplished SACNASP Candidate Natural Scientist with a passion for environmental conservation and water resource management. As an active member of the Water Institution of Southern Africa (WISA) Young Water Professionals YWP-KZN Chapter, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team.
Her skills include conducting environmental assessments, collecting and analyzing data, and developing and implementing environmental management plans. She also has experience in managing projects and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities.
Currently serving as the Ecological Infrastructure Coordinator at Umgeni Water, Nombuso is responsible for developing catchment-specific management plans and implementing integrated aquatic alien invasive weed management strategies. She is also actively involved in monitoring wetland assessment and rehabilitation projects, as well as facilitating Catchment Management Forums.
Nombuso's career objectives reflect her deep passion for water and environmental management as well as her commitment to fighting against environmental injustice. Her goals include obtaining relevant experience in Water and Environmental Science disciplines, becoming an expert in water and environmental management, and specializing in environmental law. With these skills, she aims to actively contribute to the national and international fight against environmental injustice.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Nombuso's ambitions extend to making a difference in local communities. She plans to initiate community projects focused on environmental education and awareness in local schools to ensure that communities are well-informed about the water situation in the country and that their voices are represented in decision-making entities.
With an impressive combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a passion for environmental conservation, Nombuso continues to be a driving force in promoting sustainable development and water security within South Africa and beyond.
