Vuyokazi Zungu

Coordination Lead

I work as a Validation Graduate for Adcock Ingram Healthcare, where I regularly practice my validation and verification of developed analytical methods skills. With extensive experience in analytical chemistry and pharmaceutical industry, I am passionate about providing quality healthcare products that improve the health and lives of people in the markets we serve. Prior to this work opportunity, I was a full-time registered Master of Science (Chemistry) candidate in the School of Chemistry and Physics from 2021 to 2023 and earned my MSc from University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) with Cum Laude in 12 May 2023. Through the removal of emerging contaminants that are water soluble and present in treated wastewater, South Africa and other water-scarce places are made aware of the need to promote water reuse, especially in irrigation of agricultural plants. I have has also earned my BSc (Honours) in Hydrology from UKZN.
I had a lifelong passion for managing, preserving, and protecting the environment. I always wished to see environmental issues as chances to make the environment better. I have demonstrated strong abilities in the development of techniques for removing emerging contaminants from water and reducing their risks to the environment while coming from a department that is entirely unrelated to chemistry. I am currently an active member of the Water Institute of Southern Africa (WISA) aiming to make a positive impact within the water sector. I am also a voluntary secretary during my own personal time in the KwaZulu-Natal Young Water Professionals (KZN-YWP). Above all else, I have shown my enthusiasm and passion for initiatives that aim to have an impact on the water sector. I've demonstrated the ability to develop into a competent researcher and water scientist in the future. I did quite well on my MSc academic work, and one of my articles about the removal of emerging pollutants from water and wastewater treatment processes was even published in a sustainability journal. In order to advance my research, I have also gone to one international and five local conferences. On the BRICS international conference, which took place in China, I presented my research. I've received various awards for giving the most impressive research presentation. I am a dedicated individual who enjoys transferring knowledge to others.
